The Process

- Camera records image of vehicle.
- Image read and details verified by police officers. Note: Digital cameras download direct to SCP office; VHS film produced by mobile cameras; 35 mm wet film produced by fixed site cameras.
- Registration number checked against DVLA records.
- Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) issued to registered keeper. Note: Must be issued to registered keeper within 14 days of the offence. Proof of posting is kept at Safety Camera Office. No time limit on subsequent re-issues or correspondence.
- Are you the driver? If so, complete section 1 of NIP and return to Safety Camera Office. Do not include driving licence or payments.
- Was someone else driving? If so, complete section 2 of NIP and return to Safety Camera Office.
- Are you no longer the registered owner of the vehicle? If so, complete section 3 of NIP with new keeper/owner details. Include photocopies of any supporting documentation.
- You may be issued a Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty - £60 fine and 3 points on licence. Note: Offences with excessive speed will be processed through the Courts.
- Forward your licence and counterpart tear off slip along with remittance to the court detailed on the Conditional Offer. Do not send licence or money to the safety camera partnership.
